Dr Margaret Fraenkel is a renal physician with an interest in chronic kidney disease and dialysis, poorly controlled hypertension, acute renal failure and glomerulonephritis. She also enjoys the challenge of improving symptoms in patients with complex, multisystem illness. Dr Fraenkel practises at Eastern Nephrology as well as the Eastern Health Integrated Renal Service. Dr Fraenkel is committed to enabling patients with kidney disease to maximise their quality of life on dialysis and prepare for renal transplantation if appropriate.
Dr Vatsa Dave is a renal physician who specialises in managing patients with various stages of chronic kidney disease. She welcomes referrals of complex and challenging cases. Dr Dave has a keen interest in acute renal failure, glomerulonephritis, diabetic kidney disease and poorly controlled hypertension. Dr Dave provides medical supervision to patients dialysing in the Epworth Eastern dialysis unit. She also has a keen interest in renal transplantation, and is part of the renal transplant service at Eastern Health.
Dr Sid Rajakumar is a nephrologist who is experienced in the management of a broad range of renal problems including acute and chronic kidney disease, hypertension, dialysis, transplantation and the prevention of kidney stones. He is part of the Eastern Health Renal Unit at Box Hill Hospital and also works as a general and peri-operative physician at Epworth Eastern and Knox Private Hospitals.
Dr Darren Lee is a nephrologist at Eastern Health and Austin Health, and an adjunct senior lecturer at Eastern Health Clinical School of Monash University. Dr Lee is the clinical lead for the kidney transplant program at Eastern Health. He is involved in clinical trials for diabetic kidney disease, glomerulonephritis and kidney transplantation. Dr Lee has a special interest in proteinuria, glomerulonephritis, diabetic kidney disease, amyloidosis and transplantation. In addition to English, Dr Lee also speaks Chinese (Cantonese).
Dr Louis Huang is a graduate from the University of Melbourne and is a Nephrologist at Eastern Health and Epworth Eastern. After completion of specialist training in 2010, Dr Huang began a Medical PhD in kidney diseases at Monash University. His research was awarded the prestigious NHMRC Dora Lush Postgraduate Scholarship and the Young Investigator Award at the 2011 Australian and New Zealand Society of Nephrology meeting. His medical interests include home-based dialysis, dialysis safety and clinical research. In addition to English, Dr Huang also speaks Chinese (Mandarin).
Dr Dov Degen is a dual trained Nephrologist and General Medicine Physician with private rooms at Epworth Eastern and public appointments at Eastern Health. Dr Degen has extensive medical experience in diverse areas including: diabetic nephropathy, glomerulonephritis, hypertension, infectious diseases, critical care, peri-operative medicine and palliative care. As an active mental health advocate for SANE Australia and Beyond Blue, Dr Degen takes pride in considering patients' psychosocial and mental health concerns, enabling him to deliver holistic care.
Dr Vivian Mah is a dual trained Nephrologist and General Medicine Physician. She is experienced in the management of patients with chronic kidney disease, acute kidney failure, dialysis patients, kidney transplant recipients, patients with kidney failure opting for supportive care, and complex general medical cases. She has a public appointment at Eastern Health, and works at Epworth Eastern, Knox Private, Bellbird Private, and Ringwood Private. She provides care for nocturnal dialysis patients at Epworth Eastern dialysis unit. Dr Mah consults privately at the Epworth Eastern Specialist Centres in Box Hill and Lilydale.
Dr Dan Seneviratne Epa obtained his medical degree in 2009 with First Class Honours and a Distinction in Clinical Medicine. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and has dual specialised in Nephrology and General/ Acute Care Medicine.
He is dedicated to helping those with Kidney Disease and associated complications. Whether it be in the early stages of illness (where much can be done to prevent progression of disease), or the more advanced stages (needing complex discussions about dialysis and transplantation), he strives to achieve the best possible outcomes for his patients.
